In this multi-media presentation I will tell the story of the early days of Neat Records. Indeed the story of before Neat Records and how it went on to become the foremost indie NWOBHM label. I hasten to add I know very little of the Neat story beyond Venom’s first single. But I was there at the beginning, I performed A&R duties, commissioned the guy who came up with the “Thumbs Up” logo and I even became a member of FIST for a while. I produced the first recordings if Tygers Of Pan Tang, Raven and Venom. My last production for Neat was Venom’s “In League With Satan” after which I quit the label to pursue my own songwriting career.
In this presentation, I’ll share anecdotes, insights and rare recordings and try to make sense of the emergence of the NWOBHM phenomenon. I was there and I’ll share my perspective.
This will be a warts and all story, don’t come if easily offended.
